Feb. 1-26 | Sixth Floor Museum At Dealey Plaza
If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing the Solidarity Now! 1968 Poor Peo- ple's Campaign exhibit since its opening in August 2022, this is your last chance to do so. Chronicling the tactics and effects of the first large-scale, nationally organized demonstration fol- lowing the death of Martin Luther King Jr., this exhibit features a variety of historical items from the era. From protest signs and political buttons to audio recordings and interviews with campaign participants and organizers, this in-depth exhibit brings the groundbreaking moment to life.
Feb. 5 | The Factory In Deep Ellum
If the alien rock band in “The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special” seems familiar, it might be because they were played by Dallas native rock band the Old 97’s. Since their formation in 1992, the group pioneered the alter- native country rock movement before shifting into a power pop style over the next decade. Since then, the band has released 12 studio records, including their most recent album “Twelfth.” Now the rock group is returning to its home roots to sing their biggest hits, including “Question,” “Time Bomb” and “Good With God.”

Texans love their country music, especially when it’s red dirt country from the likes of the Josh Abbott Band. Originally from Lubbock, this multi-talented, home-grown group uses every string instrument they can in their musical production, including the guitar, fiddle, banjo and mandolin. With hits like “Wasn’t That Drunk,” “Amnesia” and “She’s Like Texas,” country fans will love what the Josh Abbott Band has to offer when it comes to Dallas this month.
Feb. 11 | Dallas
It's time to get your running shoes on and prepare for Cupid's Chase 5K 2023. Each participant will receive a love-themed Under Armour T-shirt to commemorate their run. The top three male and female runners will receive a trophy upon crossing the finish line, while those in first will receive a medal to mark their achievement. But don’t worry — even if you don’t place in the top three, that doesn’t mean you’ll leave empty-handed since every participant will receive a souvenir medal at the end of the race.

Cultural Awareness: The Game Of Life Through Dance

There is no better way to celebrate Black History Month than by attending Dallas Black Dance Theatre's show called “Cultural Awareness: The Game Of Life Through Dance.” Throughout the show, viewers will see life and history play out in this beautifully moving dance production. The 23rd annual Art In The Square is nearly here, and you know what that means — it’s time for the Strokes of Art In The Square reception as well! Co-hosted by the Southlake Arts Council, the Apex Arts League and the Southlake Women’s Club, the Strokes of Art In The Square reception will present the 2023 nonprofits in Tarrant County that will benefit from this year’s art festival. In addition, nine artists will also unveil their work during the event, offering a glimpse into what attendants can expect to see in April.
Feb. 25 | Carroll Senior High School
Get ready for a night of smooth jazz at the Apex Arts League’s 14th annual Jazz Fest. The program will be opened by three different high school jazz bands, including Carroll, Colleyville Heritage and Birdville. When their performances are finished, the Jazz Fest will move on to the main event — the One O’Clock Lab Band. Directed by conductor Alan Baylock, One O’Clock is an internationally acclaimed jazz ensemble whose albums have been nominated for seven Grammy Awards. With a mix of trumpets, saxophones, clarinets, drums and bass instruments, the Apex Jazz Fest will be filled with all the beautiful sounds that will have music fans falling in love over and over again.
Feb. 24-26 | Fort Worth
Kids, adults and both expert and novice runners have a lot to look forward to at the 45th annual Cowtown Marathon. Consisting of nine different races, The Cowtown Marathon has a course for nearly every type of participant, including a Kids 5K, an Adults 5K, a 10K, a half-marathon, a marathon relay, a full marathon and an ultra marathon. The races begin at Will Rogers Memorial Center, then wind down to the Fort Worth Stockyards before it cuts through Trinity Park and the Botanic Garden before circling back to Will Rogers. Let your love of Fort Worth and running shine through at this ambitious and exciting event.
