While Southlake Carroll Dragons missed classes, sports and prom from their final semester of high school, they were still able to celebrate graduation at Dragon Stadium.
The Carroll senior class of 2020 gathered with teachers and administrators at the stadium at 8:20 p.m. on Friday, May 29, with social distancing measures in place as recommended by the state. The stadium capacity was limited to 25%, and guests had their temperature taken prior to entering.
Graduates were seated 6 feet apart and were required to wear #DragonStrong masks while walking into the stadium. But after taking their seat, Dragons were able to celebrate their high school graduation by accepting their diplomas, elbow-bumping Carroll Senior High School principal Shawn Duhon and tossing their caps into the air.
"This [year] has taken a lot of things from you guys," Duhon says to the graduates. "But it will not, and has not, taken your heart, your soul and your mind. The class of 2020 is more resilient, flexible, knowledgeable and understanding during this time of uncertainty."
Congratulations, 2020 Dragon graduates!
